I have had this issue with installaware for since we got it and not it is becoming a big issue. I have spent a while but am still unable to come out with a solution for this problem.
If I want my traget directory to be program file\\My Company\\My Application
If the user trys to select a new bath using the browse button the following happens.
User selects the destination program file\\User File
when they select this installaware always adds on the \\My Application. So it will look like program file\\User File\\My Application
I have tried using variables and everything else that I can think of. If you have the destination path Program Files\\File 1\\File 2\\File 3\\File 4\\File 5
and the user selects the path c:\\Dell then installware will put in the destination directory c:\\Dell\\File 2\\File 3\\File 4\\File 5
Any help please?!?!?!

Is there no work-around for this problem?

So no fix?
It would be nice if IA would respond to the threads instead of just letting them sit there

Seriously is there no fix for this obvious BUG in installaware. Do you even monitor this forum? If not then I do not see the point of having it.

After talking with installaware I have found a temp fix for this issue.
1. Open the destination dialog
2. Select the textbox copy and paste it
3. Set the visible property of the existing textbox to false
4. double click the existing text box and goto the Object Rules tab
5. Add the following two rules:
IF (Edit1.Text <> C:\\Program Files\\) THEN Edit1.Visible := True;
IF (Edit1.Text <> C:\\Program Files\\) THEN Edit2.Visible := False;
(Edit1 = Old Text Box, Edit2 = New Text box)
6. Open the object behavior tab.
7. Edit1 should have the values: Receives Info from "Installation Folder" and Writes Values to "TARGETDIR"
8. Edit2 should have the values: Receives Info from "[Written Variable Value]" and Writes Values to "TESTVAR"
**Note** TESTVAR can be any user defined variable
9. Close the properties window
10. Now place the new text box on top of the other one
11. Save the dialog and close it
12. In the Script go to where it says "DEFINE REGION: Define Setup Globals" after that region, set the variable you used for the second text box to "$PROGRAMFILES$\\Destiniation" in my case, it was "Set Variable TESTVAR to "$PROGRAMFILES$\\Destiniation "
13. Now, find label "Destination Directory"
14. Right before label Start Menu insert an 2 IF statements:
If
Variable $TARGETDIR$ Equals $PROGRAMFILES$
Set Variable TARGETDIR to $PROGRAMFILES$Flow-Cal
end
If
Variable $TESTVAR$ not Equals $PROGRAMFILES$\\Destiniation
Set Variable TARGETDIR to $TESTVAR$
end
15. In design mode > Project Properties, set Target Folder to $PROGRAMFILES$
16. Save the project, build it and test it
After doing these steps the destination dialogs whould be working correctly.

Just want to make a note that is not a BUG in IA. That is the normal behavior of Windows Installer.

I have no idea how to do that inside of the MSI code. I would recommed if no one has gotten back to you to log on to
http://support.installaware.com/ you can from there talk to a live support person and they should be able to help you through this. I have used it afew times myself with good results.
