Hi,

I'm trying to copy a pdf file with 'copy local files' from a folder 'docs' which is parallel to the installation folder 'setup' on the cd (i.e.: Installation folder is on <cd>:\\setup, documentation folder is on <cd>:\\docs).

using the command

copy local files $ROOTDIR$\\..\\docs\\handbuch.pdf to $TARGETDIR$\\handbuch.pdf does not work

and ends with the following error:

'folder path .. contains an invalid character'.

Before I used Wise Install Builder and

copy local file from %INST%\\..\\docs\\handbuch.pdf to %MAINDIR%\\handbuch.pdf worked

So how can I use .. for specifying folders in IA?

I'm using InstallAware 7 Studio R2.

Hi.

I'm having a very weird problem while trying to use the Copy Local Files command to get a file copied from a network folder to a local folder. This is the command I use:

Code: Select all

Copy Local Files \\\\$PCF_FILESERVER$\\$SHARENAME$\\Compbin\\PCF_Update.exe to $APP_DESTDIR$
If I put a breakpoint at this line and run in debug mode, I can add watches to see what's the content of the variables I'm using. In the case above, the contents are:

Code: Select all

PCF_FILESERVER=VMTS0720 (a network virtual machine)
SHARENAME=PCFactory (my shared folder name)
APP_DESTDIR=C:\\Program Files\\PCFactory\\Bin (the destination of my file)
After the apply updates, I check my C:\\Program Files\\PCFactory folder to see what setup has copied and I get something like this:
C:\\Program Files\\PCFactory\\Bin\\Bin\\PCF_Update.exe

I really don't understand why the "Bin" folder is being created twice.
Anyone has seen this before? Any thoughts from InstallAware team?

Thanks in advance!
