Are you trying to install the three .msi depending options that a user selects?

To install .msi packages you need to use the "(un)install msi" command. It is the first option in the plug-ins section of the drag and drop code.

You might also want to place them in the "uninstall" portion of your .MSI script so that when people uninstall your product you are not leaving rouge software laying around.

Hai Rooster,

Thanks for your reply.

This question may be useless, dont mistake me, i am new to Installaware, I dont have any idea. My requirement is, if User has choose "app1" means i have to install the "app1" application, if he choose "app2" means i have to install the "app2" application.

Before using this (un)install msi command, whether I have to ship all the 3 msi files? and in which folder i have to ship these msi files.

can you explain the procedure what i have to follow?

Thanks and Regards,
raj.

One of the better ways to go about this is place them in your set up as support files. The .msi files will never get placed on the users comptuer but can still be used to install / Uninstall the application.

I am not sure how you are going to go about letting the user choose which app to install but you could create a custom dialog box that gives the use this option. Then in the MSI script locate the install files portion of the script. It will be titled with this:
Perform First Time or Maintenance Installation

I would then put in a check somthing like:
If variable = 1
Install/Remove MSI Package $SUPPORTDIR$\\APP1.msi[ADDLOCAL=ALL] (get result into variable APP1)
end
if variable = 2
Install/Remove MSI Package $SUPPORTDIR$\\APP2.msi[ADDLOCAL=ALL] (get result into variable APP2)
end
If variable = 3
Install/Remove MSI Package $SUPPORTDIR$\\APP3.msi[ADDLOCAL=ALL] (get result into variable APP3)
end

you can get more complex with it of course but that is the short and simple way to do it.

Hai Rooster,

Very much thanks for your reply.

For that user option, already i have created the custom dialog and got the user selection. Based on your suggestion, I think i can do this. One more think, whether this type of installation will proceed in background or not?

Do you have any idea about, how to do the "Multiple Installation", using the InstallAware. and any idea about the "Promotion Manager". Can you share your knowledge with me regarding this.

Thanks and Regards,
Raj.
