I was wondering if there is a way in installaware to read the command line arguments from an .ini file such as you can do with SQL Server?

If not I think this would be a great addtion to the product as then companies could just have 1 .ini file that they use when rolling out software produced in installaware making it easier for people to install.

The arguments for this in SQL Server are
setup.exe /setting <Filename>

If you mean pass variables and othe other options you can do this now.

At the begining of your script use the "Get Ini File Settings" to read everything in from the ini file that was passed on the command line.

I am wanting to use a user specified .INI file. If I set this options that I have to use a file that I included dont I?

I am wanting to give the user the option of creating a custom .ini file that they can use for their command line builds. I don't want to have just a generacic file that everyone uses it needs to be customizable per company/user.

You don't need to include the ini file, just give them a template that they can paste into an ini file they create, then they can edit the options accordingly to suit their particular requirements.

Or, During the first install record all the user selections into an ini file that they can reuse. (Sort of like installshield with setup.exe /r).
