Patching Questions

I have some concerns with patching.
The way that our company puts out products is we have a build for each one of our customers. So for a full install we can have 20+ installers all for just one version. If we want to do a generic patch we need to have all of these referenced. This causes the patch to take an extremely long time to build.
The question that I have is: Is there a way in installaware to build say a generic patch that will patch any version of our installer, meaning that it just copies only the needed files in place.
The reason why we would want to do patch vs. a full install is because a full install for us is somewhere around 150 MB compressed and the patch is only 20 MB.
If this is not something that installaware supports currently is this something that there are plans in the future to support? If not I would like to put in a request to have this added to the next release of installaware.
We do not want to build a separate installer for just patching as it would add an entry in the Add/Remove Programs and we would only want there to be one entry. If there was a way to get around not placing this entry then that would also work.
