SFXFILE returning short (dos 8 character) filename

How do I get the long filename from SFXFILE? Why isn't it returning a long filename?

Can anyone help us and write something about this problem? Variable SFXFILE returns short filename. It's unusable.

there is the command 'convert path' that converts short file name path to long file name path and vice versa.

Yes, I know command 'convert path', but it doesn't work in this case. In my project, name of the install file is changed after building process. This is code I use in the project:
Set Variable V1 to $SFXFILE$
MessageBox: , $V1$
Convert to Long Path: V1
MessageBox: , $V1$
File name: 'LongFileName.exe'
Message before conversion: longfi~1.exe
Message after conversion: longfi~1.exe
What can I do?

i just made an empty setup and get the expected results
default: newpro~1.exe
long value: \\newproject.exe

Thanks for help, Damocles, but it works only if filename is not changed after building process. For me, changing filename is very important. I will submit a ticket...
