Hello,

I was wondering if anyone knows how I can install files to the InetPub root DIR. I can't see a pre-defined folder for InetPub. thoughts?

cheers,

Gerard

Maybe "get folder location" will help.

Hi Damocles,

I actually have already tried that one in teh MSICode. it still does not allow me to choose the Dir as the location..it only lists the Pre-defined folders. you would think you can select any folder you would want and should not be limited to only certain folders.

any other thoughts? I am new to InstallAware and have tried a few installers and this is the only one that does not let me choose my own folders unless I am missing something.

cheers,

Gerard

correction...the other installers do not show InetPub for an install folder either.. :(....I guess I am looking for a way to override this limitation.

I think I found a way that I can do this by adjusting the MSICode and set a Var to "C:\\Inetpub"..that seems to work but I don;t like that have the drive letter hard coded. is there a way that I can get just the Drive Letter of where the package is being installed to? if I can get this I would be laughing.

Indeed, there is no way to directly get the inetpub folder location. Here is something you can do:

Code: Select all

Get Folder Location WWW->WWWRoot into wwwroot
Set Variable inetpubdir to
Parse String $wwwroot$ into Variables inetpubdir and (Split at first occurrence of pattern)
Here is the copy/pasteable verion of the parse string line:

~InstallAware Clipboard Data~
~Parse String~
~{97A30DA6-5689-438E-AC1C-DE72B10D11DE}~
~$wwwroot$~
~wwwroot\\~
~inetpubdir~
~~
~0~
~FALSE~
~TRUE~

After you have done this, the inetpubdir variable will whole your required path
