Hello,
I am trying to build my installation from the Installaware IDE. I have added some files as support files and in my installation I want to install these files to the TARGETDIR with the following code

Install Files $SUPPORTDIR$\\ABC.exe to $TARGETDIR$ but I receive a compiler error

Error during build: No files matching pattern "$SUPPORTDIR$\\ABC.exe"
even if the file is shown in the Support Files. If I give absolute path of the file the problem is solved. What can be the reason to this?
Thanks a lot.

SUPPORTDIR is a RUNTIME variable!

This variable is not available at COMPILE time.

Support files are temporary files meant to be used during INSTALLATION at RUNTIME.

Hi Jim,
Thanks for the reply.. In my code I use $SUPPORTDIR$ in the following way.

Read from Text File $SUPPORTDIR$\\installer_data.txt into Variable ServiceName

and I dont have any compiler error from this line. What is the difference between this line and the one in the above post where I get the compiler error?

Read from Text File $SUPPORTDIR$\\installer_data.txt into Variable ServiceName is only used at RUNTIME, Install Files command is used during COMPILE to package the file so it has to find it to package it and SUPPORTDIR is only available at RUNTIME.
