InstallAware8 Dialog Memo Box Empty

I am having a problem with the dialog memo box under InstallAware 8.
My customisation of the "startinstallation" dialog box has a memo box which contains a number of variables. Here is the full static contents of the "lines" property:
$SETUPTYPESTR$
$SETUPTYPE$
$DESTFOLDERSTR$
$DESTFOLDER$
$USERINFOSTR$
$NAMESTR$ $USERNAME$
$COMPANYSTR$ $USERCOMPANY$
The "Object Behaviour" is left set to the default settings.
Under Installaware 7 it all worked fine, and these variables were populated by the script when you run the install. However, since my switch to IA8 the contents of the memo box are completely empty when I run the install.
I have even tried placing static text in the box, but the memo box is still empty. It seems its contents are being cleared before display to the user. Can you think of any reason why this may be happening? Is there some something I need to do to get it working or a workaround for this?
