SQL Server CE - IA Catch 22

Hi,

MS have released an updated SQL Server Compact edition in conjunction with VS2008 SP1.

My IA installer has sqlce as a prerequisite. If My user has already installed the SQLCE new version included in the above SP, IA tries to install it's pre-requistie version and sees that a newer version is already installed.

IA can't install/update so it FAILS and says to install SQLCE yourself.

CATCH 22.

How do I fix this?

In the checksqlcompact script I changed it to the following:

Set Variable SQL35 to TRUE
Comment: SQL351 is the variable for SQLCE 3.5 SP1
Set Variable SQL351 to TRUE
Get Installed State for {BCC899FE-2DAA-460C-A5FB-60291E73D9C3} into Variable SQL35
Get Installed State for {E59113EB-0285-4BFD-A37A-B79EAC6B8F4B} into Variable SQL351
Comment: Whilst 3.5 may not be installed, 3.5 SP1 is
Comment: and if 3.5 SP1 is installed don't bother with 3.5
if Variable SQL351 Equals TRUE
Set Variable SQL35 to TRUE
end
if Variable SQL35 Equals FALSE
Set Variable PREREQ to TRUE
Set Variable PRELIST to $PRELIST$$NEWLINE$Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition 3.5
end

That will do until IA release SQLCE 3.5 SP1 (or until I attempt to create one myself).

Yeh - I know - talking to myself again - pretty common for this place

Thanks for this Glen.

At least somebody is trying to help with support for the new Microsoft runtimes.

InstallAware just don't seem all that bothered.
