Patching the updater...

Hi, I'm not sure if this is possible or not....
We've not been using IA very long, so plese be gentle if I'm being a bit dim... We've noticed that there is a small error in the updater part of our software (spelling mistake on one of the messages we changed from the default). We obviously are able to fix this in subsequent releases, but when applying patches to previous versions the software (ours) is patched, but the updater is not patched.
I've had a search of the forums, but can't seem to find anything on this....
If anyone has any ideas about whether it is possible to patch the updater, and if so, how to get it working, it would be a huge help!
