net3.5 install best way?

Our product requires .net 3.5 to be installed. Currently finding it on microsofts website and getting it installed is a real headache so I want to somehow automate this process for them.
Is there a way to get .net 3.5 installed for them through installaware without shipping the entire .net 3.5 install (which is quite large). What do most do about this?
