Installer built on x64 to install into x86 GAC

Greetings, all.

First, if my question has already been answer elsewhere, my apologies. In my searches, I did not find anything specifically relevant.

Second, here is my issue:

We have to build an installer on a 64-bit machine that installs x86 assemblies into the GAC. On the 64-bit machine, gacnetx20 cannot load the dlls because they are not written "Any CPU", but are targeted to x86. Currently, we are receiving the error "Error during build: Unable to get assembly information for TheDll.dll"

If anyone can provide some direction for me, I would really appreciate it.

Thank you in advance,

Has no one else run into this situation?

What is the reason to use a x64 machine?
Use InstallAware on x86 and you should not have that issue.
InstallAware is a x86 application.

Perhaps I am misunderstanding, but are you saying that InstallAware doesn't work on 64-bit machines at all?

No, it's working. But in your special case I would use a x86 machine.
