Can’t overwrite pre-existing files on Win2K

Hi,

Ok, so I’m running InstallAware Studio 6.2 and I’ve created a very basic setup (taking most of the defaults from the new-project-wizard).

I find that when installing on Windows 2000 (SP 4), if there are pre-existing files in my target folder (that is one or more files with the same name as files to be installed by the setup), the pre-existing files won’t get overwritten. For example, if before I have ever run my setup, file1.txt and file2.txt already exist on my targetdir and my setup has packaged a different (i.e. same name but different content) file1.txt, file2.txt, file3.txt, …file-n.txt, etc, then when I install my setup, it won’t overwrite file1.txt or file2.txt. The other files file3.txt, file-n.txt, etc…install fine. The files are not in use, I don’t get a reboot notice, and nothing seems out-of-order about this Win2K machine (I’ve verified it on more than one Win2K machine). When I uninstall the setup, it uninstalls file1.txt, file2.txt, …file-n.txt.

My setup works fine on XP but Win2K has this problem. Any ideas? Am I missing something obvious here?

Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!
