Hi,

I have to offer to my customers possibility for their to replace some installation files with their's files. These files do not have to be registered or something, just copied from one place to other, but the names can be totally dynamic.

How can I provide such a functionality?

more specific

Hi Bar_BQ,

maybe it's not only me who don't understand the problem.
Could you be a bit more specific?

The (maybe too) obvious approach would be to use the InstallFiles command with wildcards and the "include subfolders" flag.
So you can throw whatever you want to install into that folder, and the installer will pick it up.

If you want to add the files after creation of the installer, you could call xcopy or the like using SFXPATH variable for example.

Don't know if that solves your problem, just guessing.

Hi Ulrichard,

I'm currently working on a setup for a program that consists in main exe ffile, some dll libraries and some reports (ActiveReports from DataDynamics). I was told, that our customers often have their own sets of reports and they want to include reports to the current setup. This is for their convience that will allow to keep their reports up to date in case of installing the program on a new computers.

p.s. sorry for my English :)

Hi Bar_BQ,

reading your post, I assume you don't have the custom reports of all your customers, so you could include them at creation time.
So they must be collected at installation time. That leads us to the second approach of my former post.
InnoSetup has some notion of external files, that would be handy in those cases. I'm not aware of such a feature in InstallAware, so I would use RunProgram->xcopy or something similar.
As stated in another post, use SFXPATH or EXEDIR depending if you use a compressed or uncompressed installer.
Also, it's probably best, if you execute that after ApplyInstall, as the required target-directories might not exist before.

Btw: your english is good, I wasn't understanding your question because it was missing some details.

Thank you for your reply. Indeed, yesterday evening I tried to solve problem by use of xcopy and it works satisfactory. I placed this operation after Apply Install and setup checks whether a folder called "custom" consist in any file and copying it to the $TARGETDIR$.

Easy and good enough :)
