What is the diffrence betwene EXEDIR and ROOTDIR?

The helptext tells me the follwing:

EXEDIR: The folder containing the setup executable itself.
ROOTDIR: The folder containing the setup executable itself.

So, from the help text it looks like they are the same, is that true?
