Database Patching

I am currently using the patching feature of IA, but have some questions regarding how to patch databases.

Is there a way to patch databases in terms of structure so that with each revision, the patching structure could look at the database version and determine what to patch?

Alternatively if it needs to be a more manual process then is there a way to check versions on the patching so I could write that logic in. (E.g. if I'm at version 4 then run version 2, 3, & 4 patches).

Thanks,

~ Steve

InstallAware provides one-click patching functionality for your own product files, but not databases. You will need to use your database platform's SQL scripting and other capabilities to develop patches for them.

Is there a way to tell the patch process the difference between versions? I know IA handles file versioning, but can I extend that to write my own DB versioning in the middle?

So IA knows that I installed version 1 and has known patches up to version 4, but can I write a piece in the middle to have the patch tell me version 1 is installed and we're patching version 4, so I need to have certain logic to get to version 4.

I'm ok with writing that piece myself, however, is there a place that fits in the patching to put this logic?

Thanks,

Yes of course. Just edit the MSIcode script to inject your custom code wherever you need it.
