InstallAware and CodeGear RAD Studio 2007

Hi,
I am trying to generate an installer for quite a simple application I wrote with RAD Studio. I am using the InstallAware that comes with RAD studio prof. My system is win 2k3 server.

First of all: is there a walk through example anywhere for RAD Studio. Maybe all my questions are answered there?

My problem: My program uses Vcl forms and has just one executable so my setpup is:
1) Click 'CodeGear Visual Component Library 10' in the application runtimes window
2) Copy my executable to the $TARGETDIR$ directory in the 'Files' window.

Now, if I click the 'validate installation database' icon or try and make the installer, I get the message
No files matching '#VCL_BPL_PATH#\\*100.bpl'
What am I missing?

Grateful for any tips / how-tos / solutions.

I guess it depends on how you compile your application but when I have compiled an Deplhi application and create an installer I do not add any runtimes for it.

Install the update for these runtimes - the 2007 version has a bug that was fixed in the 2009 version out-of-the-box, and is fixed in the 2007 version with the runtime update patch.

Hi,
thanks for the tips. But, I'm afraid I still get the error message. In the meantime I did find out where to set up the variable VCL_BPL_PATH (Project -> Options -> Compiler Variables)

Setting the variable however, installed _all_ CodeGear runtime DLLs. I only need rtl100.dll and vcl100.dll. I don't want to unnecessarily pollute the target system.

I can't get the scan button on the 'Files' window to work either. It doesn't list the dependencies for me (rtl100.dll, vcl100.dll, borlndm.dll and cc3280mm.dll)

So, my question: what way do you people do this? Use the depends.exe utility to find all DLLs used by the application and add them manually to InstallAware or is there a better way?

Thanks,
Charles
