InstallAware

I've been approached to do some installer work as a side project. I don't do contract work, but my experience with InstallAware matches the needs for this potential customer. Nothing too fancy, install a desktop app using web media blocks and layout how to implement web updates.

I have no idea what to charge this company, I'm curious to know what the going rate for contract work for installers.

Chris, I can't answer for the US market but InstallShield contract rates here in the UK are typically £90-120 per day outside London and in the main financial area in London, I've seen investment bank rates of about £200-250 per day. I'm guessing that if you pitch at a typical InstallShield daily rate you'd be about right. After all, it's the knowledge of installers that has value as well as knowing the product you'd be using. To be honest, I've not yet seen any IA jobs or contracts listed in the UK since I've been using it for about one week now.
