Possible to make install without uninstall?

I want to make a simple install that will copy files to the HDD, but won't register the installation. I don't want an uninstall, nor have it listed in Add/Remove programs.

I want to be able to run the install multiple times to "recopy" the files.

Uninstall would be just deleting the files.

Possible?

Yes.

Create a new project and select the Templates tab. Select Blank Setup. That'll create a next-to-nothing project. Build it and you'll see it does nothing. There are no dialogs, nothing.

Drop some code like this into the empty MSI code window:

[DEFINE WEB MEDIA DUMMY]
Set Variable $TARGETDIR$ to C:\\Temp
Install Files C:\\Temp\\orca.Msi to $TARGETDIR$
Apply Install

Change the Install Files statement to suit your own needs and insert additional ones if you want. Build and run. It should install the files but in the absence of an uninstall they will be permanent and nothing will show in the Add/Remove Programs.

Is that what you want to do?

EDIT: Sorry, I think lied about the ARP. I thought it did not list but I just noticed it did. Sorry about that.

EDIT 2: I added the following after the apply install:

Delete Registry KEY HKLM\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Uninstall\\Blank\\*.*

I called my product Blank. It successfully deleted the entry in the ARP. Maybe there's an easier way in IA that'll stop the ARP registration. I could not find any reference to it in the MSI tables.

This is covered in the help file and there is also a sample project for installing multiple instances.

In the help file search for: Transform Instance.

You'll find the sample project under: New Project -> Quick Start -> Sample.

I missed a crucial part of his original question. That sample is indeed on the right lines.
