I am trying to test out the patch feature of InstallAware, however it keeps giving me this patching error whenever I try to run the patching process. Is there something that I am missing from this process?
Thanks

Yep checked it on both computers that I am doing these tests on.
One is a QA computer that has Vista 32, Vista 64, XP 64. All have the file and all give the same error.
Second computer has Vista 32 and is my main CPU which has the file as well on it.
It is located in C:\\Windows\\System32\\makecab.exe
File was created January 18th 2008. Unsure if the date of creation is the problem. However the other computer with the 3 OS running on it has ones from prior such as 2007 and even 2006. Unsure if there is any relevance to that.
I googled a bit on this error and it seems that it is a problem that is happening on installshield when making a patch when installshield's version of makecab.exe is differ from computers version of system32.
I am unsure if this pertains to installaware because different softwares and I cannot find a makecab.exe file in the installaware installation directory.
Thanks

Apparently InstallAware does not install this file. But the version conflict between your system32 version of makecab.exe and the version of Windows Installer on your system might account for this failure.

I see the problem was the different versions of that file. MSI 4.5 has the file at current date June 2008 the up to date version while my system32 has January 2008 that was causing the problem. A simple update of the system32 removed that error.
Thanks
