I am trying to get a patch to install. When I run the install I am prompted with an Error 2727.
What are the causes of this error?
Thanks,
~ Steve

MSDN
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa372835.aspx documents the installer error codes. 2727 is one of the more common error codes experienced and the number of reasons can be quite vague.
You might need to roll your installation project back to a last known working copy and then work it forward bit by bit and see if you can detect the incremental change where the error first occurs.
Sometimes it might be a bad entry in one of the MSI tables which is perhaps unlikely but not impossible in IA.
You might want to try what you are doing if you are able to reboot in safe mode.
Another possibility and one that has bit me before is a failed uninstallation that left part of the registry taco'ed. I've also had 2727 errors with custom actions in IS.
As I say, the error is not always so obvious. Does the error occur only on one machine or is it universal on all machines? Sometimes you need to work out if there is an environmental problem. Having said all of this it might be an easy solution. 2727 can be a pain for sure but hopefully I've given some pointers.
If you google 2727 you'll see lots of different explanations. It might be caused by the angle of the sun.

bokkie,
Hey thanks for the suggestions. I will dig through that and try.
I have been googling these errors, but thought that IA was to take care of all of this. It seems the deeper I get into IA, the more work I have to do to make it (and my installer) stay happy.
If I figure out my problem, I will post in case it helps someone else.
Thanks again,
~ Steve

I "may" of found the issue.
When building my first few installers, I tried to use the single build, but found that it doesn't patch very well. So I switched to the web builds but removed all the web media blocks. However, when I created the single block at the top (as per the whitepaper) I ran through too quick and entered "OFFLINE" instead of leaving the fields blank.
This then created a SETUP.exe as well as an offline.7zip. I then changed it to not have the .7zip and now my patches are patching (when not referencing the other installers).

Glad to hear it's ok now. That's why I suggested "environment" issues as a possible cause for 2727 errors.
Remember, the angle of the sun is different today than it was yesterday and that might be the real reason why your 2727 has disappeared now.
