Hi,

Has anyone had any experience of deploying SSRS reports to a report server using InstallAware?

Thanks in advance,

Mike.

I ended up having to write a small C# program to deploy a bunch of reports for our app. Then I execute that from the IA installer. I couldn't find a way to do it with just the IA 8 tool set.

Post your code and we'll try to provide the native InstallAware commands if they're all available (and they probably are).

Here is the C# code. It needs some more error handling but it works for letting us deploy a package of 28 standard reports for Reporting Services that our app needs. Let me know what this would look like in IA 8 tool set. I have to mention that I am not a wizard with msi. That was one of the advantages of IA. Got enough other projects that learning msi was not real high on the priority list :?

Thanks

And one more requirement we had for this. It needs to be able to deploy the reports from just having the .rdl file for a report.

Hey All,
I'm completely new to IA and I have an identical situation. I have to deploy about 20 Reporting Services Reports a long with the database schema and other exes. I looked at the code above. I can follow and understand what it is doing. My question is how do you get IA 10 to launch similar code (updated for SSRS2008) and pass it the server, user and password?

Thanks,
Sean

Dear Sean,

I don't know about that specific code, but you can use the Run Program command in InstallAware - this command lets you run any executable (and pass parameters to it etc.)
