It is possible to update a file during the installation process?

Sure! MSI patches, or direct API calls to copy files, or direct MSI calls to copy local files...many ways to do it.

There is an XML fine in the local machine. I need to update a value in that xml file with a user input which was taken during the Installing process. Which method do u recomend for this purpose?

EditFile should work very well!

on InstallAware, i cannot locate edit file. the only option is edit INI file. Is this the one that u r saying or am i missing the point?

Would Read from Text File and Write to Text File help with the essential file I/O? You could then use Replace String or possibly Parse String to replace the value before you write it back to the file. I've never tried doing it that way but it might be worth looking into.
