BUILDMODE PATCH error

Hi,
I have a problem when I localize my installer. I import 2 languages, compile. But when I run the installer, I get a BUILDMODE PATCH error.
Then, since this is not the first time I see this error (it does not appear in your bug database though), and since an installaware support person gave me a trick, I cut and paste the complete script code.
Okay, then I compile and run the installer. It works but the text appearing in the window is completely incorrect - See the attached
I need an urgent help on that. Localizing is an installaware feature, and not delivered so far.
Regards.

BUILDMODE PATCH error

This localizing issue creates a problem with a major customer. It's damaging the company's image and 2 weeks later, still no reply on the forum about the problem and Installaware support team has stopped answering my email.
I tried everything: Importing localized files into the installer makes it fail.
I tried to rename a copy of the spanish file into translations.Original in order to have a Spanish version only. But the installer is still in english.
I tried to set the LANGUAGE variable to SPANISH at the very beginning of the script (first line before checking application requirement)
Shall I send the story to a reknown blog or publish it on tech forums?

Hi antoinebrunel,
looks like the translation files are corrupt.
If you compile the installer without localization (remove all the localization files from the project), does it work correctly?
Can you compare the different language files with a diff viewer like examDiff or BeyondCompare to see if the line numbers relate correctly?

Hi Richard,
Thanks for your quick reply.
1- My installer project compiles and works well, it has been tested by a lot of customers using various Xp and Vista.
2- I export translation files to a folder. I make the changes with the translation tool. I import them into my installer project. I then check using BeyondCompare that translations.Original and translations.Spanish
translations.Spanish and translations.Original have the same number of lines. On the same line I can see the english sentence in translations.original, and the spanish sentence in translations.Spanish
3- Wether I activate the language bar or not, when I compile and run the installer, I have the BuildMode Patch error message.
Thanks for your help

Hi Antoine,
I'm not sure if I'm on the rigth track, as I don't really understand the problem you're describing.
What exactly do you refer to by "BUILDMODE PATCH error"?
When reading "BUILDMODE PATCH error" I would check again the compiler variable checks in the script.
can you also compare the line numbers of the *.original file against the *.mtx file?
Rgds

Hi Richard,
*.original and *.mtx have the exact same number of lines: 682, and the last line is empty. It seems consistent when I compare them into BeyondCompare.
Regarding the BuildMode Patch error, it appears whenever I run the installer after importing localized language. When I set the installer in debug mode, it stops in a custom script.
What I don't understand is why importing localized languages makes it crash when it was working before.

Please check the pre-defined compiler variables in help - there is a variable which controls how localizations are applied. Elusive problems sometimes occur when localizations are unconditionally applied; this can have unwanted effects in If comparisons and such. You can restrict localization variable application to a more conditional mode as described in the help file, this might solve your issue.
