Issues with registry and ODBC supporting 32 and 64 bit

I have an application that is designed to work on both 32 and 64 bit setups. Parts of the app are 32 bit only, other parts support both modes. We have a few registry entries, and when installed on a 64 bit machine, we need them to appear in the registry twice, once in the 32 bit section, once in the 64 bit section. Originally, I tried to do this, by copying the registry entries for 32 bit, and sticking them inside an if statement checking if we're on a 64 bit system, and if so, set the install mode to 64 and add the copied registry entries, then set the install mode back to 32. However, this only got the entries to show up in the 32 bit section.
So next, I tried putting it all inside the if statement. If 64 bit system, then set 64 bit mode, and add regular entries, and entries with the Wow6432Node added to the path, else just the regular entries. When I tried it this way, the entries show up in the 64 bit section, but not the 32 bit section. How can I get them to show up in both places?
Also, when I leave the install mode as 64 bit when i get to Apply Changes, I get the following error from ODBC:
Error configuring ODBC data source: SampleApp, ODBC error 6: Component not found in the registry. Verify that the file SampleApp exists and that you can access it.
I tried moving the ODBC definition to after setting the install mode to 64 bit, but I got the same error. Does ODBC not work in 64 bit mode? If so, will that prevent me from making the registry entries work right?
Thanks for the help,
