Problems with IA

Maybe I'm the only one, but who here is having problems with IA? In 1 week this is the shortlist of problems I have experienced:

1. Horrendous build times
2. No Transform creation tool
3. Unable to inject files/folders into an imported MSI (recieve Error message looking for a network location)
4. No MSI Property manipulation
5. No deep level documentation

I'm not here to bash but I'm in a bit of a pickle. I have canceled my IS maint plan and now I'm stuck with IA, which worked like a champ while in demo mode, but now I can't get anything done.

BTW, I'm not a newb at this. I have over 5,000 packages under my belt, I'm a former Microsoft consultant and I was part of the QA team that developed Windows Installer v2.0.

Any ideas on how to make this tool work properly would be beneficial as I simply don't have the cycles to sit down and figure out nuances that appear to be more and more like bugs.

Hi Dan,

We do not tolerate unjustified criticism of InstallAware in these official InstallAware forums. You will be banned without further warning if you keep up this behavior.

1. You need to justify this criticism with numbers and facts otherwise it just looks like you are ranting without rational basis - sure to get you banned.

2-4-5. You do not need transforms with InstallAware. If you are trying to create transforms, you are missing the whole point of InstallAware's MSIcode. Read the MSIcode whitepaper. Ditto for property manipulation.

3. Check your MSIcode for illegal path references.

InstallAware is a revolutionary tool that makes use of new, innovative concepts which save most of our customers tremendous amounts of time compared to other tools.

If for whatever reason you are unable to appreciate what InstallAware gives you, do not rant or you will be banned without further warning.
