Hi everybody,

I have a problem with installing an MSI package.

First I put the msi for postgre into a filebag, and then I run the "Install/Remove MSI Package" command with the following arguments:

package : $POSTGREFILES$postgresql-8.3-int.msi or $POSTGREFILES$\\postgresql-8.3-int.msi (same result)

action string : /qn ADDLOCAL=server,psql,nls,pgadmin INTERNALLAUNCH=1 SERVICEDOMAIN="%COMPUTERNAME%" SERVICEPASSWORD="default" CREATESERVICEUSER=1 SUPERUSER="admin" SUPERPASSWORD="default" PERMITREMOTE=1

Note : I also tried to put the computername into an InstallAware variable. With the same result.

That's according to postgre's documentation at :
http://pginstaller.projects.postgresql.org/silent.html

The command returns the following error:
Ungültiges Befehlszeilenargument. Ausführliche Befehlszeilenhilfe finden Sie im SDK des Windows-Installationsprogramms
Which translates more or less as :
Invalid commandline argument. Read the Windows-Installer documentation for help.

But if I cd into the filebag directory and execute the following command on the commandline :
msiexec /i "C:\\DOKUME~1\\ENTWIC~1.BOR\\LOKALE~1\\Temp\\mia8.tmp\\data\\PostgreSQL 8.3\\mFileBagIDE.dll\\bag\\postgresql-8.3-int.msi" /qn ADDLOCAL=server,psql,nls,pgadmin INTERNALLAUNCH=1 SERVICEDOMAIN="%COMPUTERNAME%" SERVICEPASSWORD="default" CREATESERVICEUSER=1 SUPERUSER="admin" SUPERPASSWORD="default" PERMITREMOTE=1

It sucessfully installs postgreSQL!
So, the action string can't be totally wrong.

How would you procede further. I mean appart from "Run Program As" ...

Rgds
Richard

/qn is a command line parameter for the MSI installer executable - you don't need that actually with (Un)Install MSI Setup. Removing it should fix the problem.
