Error \"not implemented\" when upgrading in Windows 7

Hello guys

I have a problem i can't understand :D

I'm using InstallAware 9 (build Moya.sp1.070409) on a Windows Vista SP2 based PC.

I really have no problems on building the project and installing it on every OS when i make a clean install.
The problem comes when I upgrade the same product (i.e. same product code but different revision code) on my Windows 7 Professional x64 (MSDN final, so no RC nor beta).

Everything goes fine until the reboot, when I enter Windows, the setup restarts in the RunOnce way (i.e. no desktop, no taskbar, etc) but after the language selection dialog, i got an error that says only "not implemented". However, after I click OK i can continue normally and complete the installation...

here's a screenshot of the error
Image

This happens only on Windows 7 (i did not try on a 32 bit version) either i enable or disable UAC, i logon as administrator, i create another user (non-admin) account...

I logged the setup and the only lines i can find errors are:

Code: Select all

where "Fine registrazione = logging end" and "Prodotto: VirIT eXplorer Lite -- Installazione completata = Product: VirIT eXplorer Lite -- Installation complete" in italian :D

Any idea???

Thanks in advantage for your answers :)

EDIT: I get this error with 3 different setups made each from scratch...

Hmm - going to have to escalate this one I'm afraid. Can you open a support ticket and submit your project?

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem under Windows 7 32-Bit: When the setup continues after a restart and the first dialog is shown, the error message "Not Implemented" appears. If the setup doesn't show any dialog after the restart, all is fine and the error message doesn't appear. This behaviour was reproduceable on several machines with Windows 7.

To reproduce this bug: Simply use any setup created with InstallAware 9 SP 1 and add the following key to the Windows registry - then restart:

Path:
HKLM\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\RunOnce

Entry name:
Test

Entry value (full path of your setup):
"C:\\Test\\Setup.exe"

Cu

This behavior has been fixed in InstallAware 9 R2.

Please help yourself to a release candidate of InstallAware 9 R2 to ensure it works to your satisfaction:

hi,

i had the same issue on Windows 7 x64bits also.
I'm using Installaware 9 (Build sliders.rtm.042009) and i'm still able to reproduce it.
Any updates on this error ?

Best regards,

Dear abdou24,

I apologize, but this issue has been fixed starting with InstallAware 9R2. Please consider upgrading to InstallAware 10.

Is there any chance to get a copy of Installaware 9 R2? It looks like I've missed the chance to download this version in time, and it is now no longer available on your website. Currently I'm using InstallAware 9.

I'm running into the same problem mentioned in this thread, and there seems to be no workaround...

Me again

I have a problem with the license. I've installed IA 9 R2 over my existing installation and I've build my setup. Installed it on Win 2008 R2, works fine, error is gone. Tried it on XP SP3 my setup told me in a MessageBox, that it is build with a trial version of Installaware. So I've applied the License file from IA9 ... but that turns my IA9 R2 (build moya.sp2.042910) back to IA9 (build moya.sp1.070409), and the error is back again. If I log on to my account to regenerate my license I've no option to do so, I can only download my existing license.

Do you have any idea how to solve this?

Dear ohali,

Unfortunately, there is no way around this. You can only download your 9 license, not regenerate it.
Hence, you can only have 9 R1 licensed.
