Unable to install IA7

Hello,

I'm desperately trying to get some help with re-installing Install Aware 7 after an hard disk failure. It is an upgrade version from IA6 that I had been using.

I can install IA6 with the web installer (InstallAware_6.exe) and our licensing exe (IA ProFantasy Software Ltd.EXE), but only with the minimum install. If I try to add runtimes for it (e.g. Windows Installer), I get an error message that extracting the files failed and I can try to re-download the files or re-extract them. Both options fail.

For IA7 I have the download with runtimes (InstallAware_7_With_Runtimes.exe), but trying to install it always results in the following error message:

Note that this error happens at a different time than it does for a wrong password. It does accept the password I have archived, goes through the verification of the archive and THEN fails. For a wrong password, the error message pops up immediately.

I've sent multiple help request to IA support, but haven't gotten any response. It's kinda ironic that I can't get the Installer software to install.

Anybody who can help me here?

I'm sorry to say that we do not appear to have received your support request ....

InstallAware 7 is a very old build now -- we are up to 9 -- and this looks like you have a corrupt copy of the installer. Unfortunatly we do not keep copies of such old releases due to the large file sizes. Hopefully someone has got a copy they can provide you with ...

I sent a support request on 5 Oct to [email protected]. Was that the wrong e-mail address to use?

We purchased the software in August 07. Two years doesn't feel like a very long time ago and, considering the software is only delivered by download, I think that IA should do more to help. After all, the warm glow of happy customers is surely what makes us tick.

Please can you doublecheck whether IA has an archive copy somewhere(e.g. to test upgrade installations)?

If IA can't help, can any other customers give us a copy of their V7 installation files? The alternative seems to be torrent, but that's something we won't do.

I sent another support request to [email protected] on Oct 8th, and used the web form for a support request on Oct 5th.

I can't see any open support requests with your email address, so I can only guess they have been resolved.

Unfortunatly we do not store the old binaries as I have already said -- this is in line with many companies in the software industry - for example, Adobe does not provide access to Electronically Purchased editions of their products for an indefinite period of time -- in all cases it is the user responsibility to ensure that they have a valid backup of the product purchased.

However, we do understand that this is awkward for users, and errors do occur -- because of this, we are investing in changing our online customer system to allow access to previous versions, although this will only become available for version 9 and above.
