Installing MS Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable

I seem to be banging my head against a problem here:
A few of our betatesters are reporting a problem with our latest patch, that can be fixed by installing the Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) from
this download location at Microsoft's site.
I'm now trying to integrate this redistributable into the patch install. It seems to works fine within InstallAware9. I select the runtimes, the necessary scripts and dialogs get created, I build the installer and the betatesters report that the dialogs appear and the runtimes get installed.
But it doesn't fix the problem it is supposed to.
Is the version included with InstallAware different than the one downloadable from Microsoft? If so, where can I find the differences and how can I incorporate the correct redistributable in my install?
Any help is appreciated.

Are you sure that is the patch that they installed? If you are building against a fully patched installation of 2008, it is likely that you actually need a different patch to get your app to run ... Microsoft updated the runtimes (and Visual Studio), and we will be releasing a SP shortly that includes the updates.

Actually we found that ANY installation of MS Visual Studio 2008 redistributable fixed the problem, but using the runtimes included within IA9 did not (this is confirmed and tested on our own systems).
Our workaround is currently to include the MS redistributable in the install and run it at the end of the install. That works, but is inelegant and a bit annoying to the users.
An update to the runtimes will be welcome.

Hi,
we have exact the same problem with IA8.
Our product requires the Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86), the package is included in our installer.
Some customers report a "...side-by-side.." problem when starting our application, installing the package from the Microsoft site fixes this issue.
It is remarkable that this problem occurs especially under Winz installations.
For now we unchecked this package in the installer project settings "application runtimes" and ask our customers to install it manually.
Of course this is not an acceptable solution for the future.
What can we do? Are you going to update the according files for IA?
Thanks.

Bump
Has really nobody any idea how to solve this problem?
InstallAware is useless for us at the moment if we can't install this package successfully at every customer's machine.

You're not limited to the pre-built list of runtimes. There's many ways to install custom runtimes, the quickest of which would be to call Run Program (As) on the runtime installer, and the most elegant of which would be to build your custom runtime that snaps into the IDE (we have a whitepaper describing how to build them). You could also just drop-in the latest files inside the existing runtime folder too for this particular item!
