I have the May build of IA 9 Studio. I have been spending the entire day trying to diagnose why my service won't get deleted during uninstall. I thought it was user error. Then I searched and found out there was an issue with v9 and a hot fix was released. But no link was given in the post.

So I downloaded the July build and spent the 1-2 hours upgrading. Confirmed I had SP1 July build. When I launched the license utility, it activated. So I rebuilt my install and retested but no luck. I checked my version again and it is back to the May release.

Does anyone know the remedy here? I can't believe I would have to purchase a hot fix for a defect in the May release when I upgraded. And I find it a little ironic that I can't easily get an update to my installer product. The download is over 1GB.

Hi, cjoyce!

All you need to do is to regenerate your license. You'll get a patch inside the license file. License setup.exe actually contains the main executable for the Installaware. That's why when you apply your May license you get back to May version.

So... just go to the Generate License page, Click Generate License, and you'll get the final July, 4 version of main executable along with your license.

Thank you ALive. I appreciate the response. I finally got through to someone at InstallAware (they don't answer support emails or phones calls but they do send out solicitation for upgrades) and was able to get upgraded. I was told that I needed to install the latest eval first, then download and run the license updater. I can see now how just re-downloading the license updater and running it may be there way of upgrading. It sure beats a > 1GB download for a patch.

Either way, I now have the July release and the fix for deleting services is in there. If anyone is watching this thread, if you have the May release, the installer would not delete the service on uninstall and apparently this was a known issue in that release of IA9.
