Patch question

Hey

I use Install Aware 9
I took a look on the patch machanism, described in the PDF, which explained the patching.

First of all, I have to say, that I have never tried it! - But when I understood the system correct, then, I can create a single file Setup, which has both version in it. - The program checks itself, if an older version is installed and only updates (patch) it, or it installs the complete software with the latest files.

When I am right with this, then I have a question: My single file installation needs 180MB, So, when I only changes my .EXE file in my project, then the user will need again the 180MB file, and not only a 4MB file... - So, how can I give the user a stand alone patch? So that the Installer checks, if my program is already installed. If yes, then the program patches the files, if not, it exits.

THX - Hope everyone understood my question

I am essentially researching and designing the same thing that you have asked about.

The main requirement I am trying to solve is to create an installation that downloads a small (change) set of files and produces a resultant installation that includes the version being patched along with the patch applied.

Ideally I would like to have the resultant installation be a separate revision in a separate folder. Note that we use Transform Install so multiple instances of our product are installed.

I am envisioning how to do this manually...but would love if IA can do it already.
