Get the LocalAppData folder as targetdir on Vista

Hi,
I am having problems getting my installer to install on Vista for the current user (standard, not administrator) in the LocalAppData folder.
When I use the variable $MYAPPDATA$, it installs my app in the AppData/Roaming folder of Vista for the current user.
Which variable should I use in the targetdir field?
Thanks
I have the same problem

Anyone has any idea for this?
I would really like much more my app being installed on "local" than on "roaming"
I really need help, I searched Google, the Forum, everywhere... can't find it!
Thanks

you can set $MYAPPDATA$ with your path or use custom folder to make more dynamic.

Actually when I use $MYAPPDATA$ in $TARGETSIR$, the installation is performed on ApplicationData/Roaming instead of ApplicationData/Local (in VISTA)...
Any idea how to get to the ApplicationData/Local folder?
Thanks

How about to create new dialog and put 1 edit and 1 button inside it. Then you you doubleclick the button as custom dialog. Use this dialog to look for the path app/data and then refer to the variabel MYAPPDATA

Sorry but I don't understand your answer.
In Installaware you have the ability to define in your installer in which folder your application will be installed without popinp any "custom dialog"
You just put a variable in the Targetdir field in the run program installaware dialog.
There are several choices of variables like $PROGRAMFILES$ or $MYAPPDATA$...
My question is very straightforward I think: What is the variable name to make the installer install my application in "ApplicationData/Local" folder on Vista?

Use
Get Folder Location on the
System->CD Burning directory. It will return something like:
C:\\Users\\<user>\\AppData\\Local\\Microsoft\\Windows\\Burn\\Burn\
Then, you can call
Extract Path on that path four times, and you're done:
Code: Select all
Get Folder Location System->CD Burning Directory into FOLDER
Extract Parent Folder: FOLDER
Extract Parent Folder: FOLDER
Extract Parent Folder: FOLDER
Extract Parent Folder: FOLDER
MessageBox: FOLDER, $FOLDER$

Thanks!! I did not imagine that it required a work around, I thought I was just missing the right variable!
Thanks a bunch

This behavior has been updated in Install
Aware 9 R2 as follows: the
Get Folder Location command now has a new parameter to directly obtain this folder path on all operating systems directly.
Please help yourself to a release candidate of Install
Aware 9 R2 to ensure it works to your satisfaction:

Other->Local Application Data (at the very end of the list)

I am just now playing with InstallAware as a trial and this option is available only in the MSICode, but NOT in the Design portion. It just isn't in the list. But it is in the list from the MSICode section.

If you assign a variable to the result in the MSI code first, then that path will show up in the designer to be able to add files and folders to.
