Hi,
I just upgraded my IA from version 9 to 9R2 and I'm experiencing problem with net frawework 4. I'm getting error code 5101 which means internal state error.
I hadn't had such an error when downloaded a component only from forum thread. Anybody has the same?

I am having the same problem, but don't have a solution. I have tried it on two XP SP3 machines (one physical, one a clean VPC image)... both have the same problem.
Also, if I download the MS redist for .Net 4 it install fine, only a problem from the InstallAware setup. It doesn't matter if I do a single exe build or a web build... for web builds the components download ok, but in both web and single exe mode the install fails.

Apparently this is a bug that creeped in into Install
Aware 9 R2's own setup. We forgot to include the subfolders required for the runtime when building
R&D will be issuing another hotfix update for this. We are very sorry for the inconvenience. You may inject the necessary files from the individual binaries posted earlier.

The hotfix is ready here:
http://www.installaware.com/gwinnett/In ... Update.exe
This hotfix is cumulative (contains the previously released hotfix for MSXML as well).
The hotfix contains just the missing files, so would be an ideal package to install (instead of downloading cumulative packages).
The hotfix is now also being pushed out as an Install
Aware 9 R2 update.

The latest update to Install
Aware 9 R2 (9.08):
www.installaware.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5658
Has inlined a fix to this issue, so all new installs should work fine out of the box (the hotfix is still available too).

Hi,
I'm also getting failure to install .NET Framework 4 (x86) from a setup file created by InstallAware 9 R2. I've tried this on several machines, primarily on a 64 bit Vista box. I see this message:
"Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 could not be installed. Please use Windows Update to manually install this update on your system."
I don't have version 9.08 (I have Build Moya.sp2.052510) but I have installed this hotfix:
http://www.installaware.com/gwinnett/In ... Update.exe
I am able to install .NET 4.0 on these machines with the standard Microsoft package without a problem:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en
I am also able to use InstallAware to build a setup file and install with .NET Framework 2.0 without a problem.
I'm using a single file install but I've tried building and installing from an uncompressed CD/DVD folder structure with the same result. For what it's worth I've also tried manually running this setup file inside the folder structure:
"Uncompressed\data\Microsoft .NET Framework 4\mFileBagIDE.dll\bag\setup.exe"
...but that failed with a message "You cannot use this setup program to install the .NET Framework." Possibly that's not supposed to work anyway.
I understand the original error message above is not much to go on... so if anyone can suggest anything else I can do to get more diagnosis or a more descriptive message I would be grateful.
Thanks very much in advance!
Ben

Hi Ben,
I think you may be experiencing a different issue - your issue is probably the fact that you are trying to install an x86 runtime on an x64 platform?
