Windows 2008 detection inconsistent

Hello,

Our software must be installed in a different way on Windows 2008 (R2).
I did some tests with the following code on Windows 2008 R2 system:

Code: Select all

Get System Setting Windows XP into IS_WINDOWS_XP
Get System Setting Windows Vista into IS_WINDOWS_VISTA
Get System Setting Windows 7 into IS_WINDOWS_7
Get System Setting Windows 2003 into IS_WINDOWS_2003
Get System Setting Windows 2008 into IS_WINDOWS_2008
Get System Setting Windows 2008 R2 into IS_WINDOWS_2008_R2
The result:

Code: Select all

XP = TRUE
Vista = TRUE
7 = TRUE
2003 = TRUE
2008 = FALSE
2008 R2 = TRUE
I am surprised about the 2008 = FALSE. Shouldn't it be set to TRUE as well?
The behavior is inconsistent with the other responses - I get the TRUE for XP, Vista, 7 and also 2003 checks..
Bug?

Best regards,
adi

That is indeed inconsistent, the 2008 flag is returned false if running on 2008 R2. I'll have this reported to R&D.

You can also use Get OS or SP Level, by the way. But the nice "check for minimum requirement" aspect of Get System Settings has indeed been violated by the above.

We have just published InstallAware 9 R2 version 9.09 on our main website. Please install this latest version. This latest version fixes some sporadic Visual Studio issues for all versions (2003, 2005, 2008, and 2010). It also resolves this inconsistent detection issue. No other changes over 9.08 - so if you don't need the new VS behavior, you may just regenerate and reinstall your license to take advantage of the detection fix (without having to reinstall the full product, only if you are already at 9.08 though).
