I am new to InstallAware and still evaluating ... and have a question I can't find the answer to:

I created a custom dialog with a folder browse and a text label control. On changing the location within the folder browse dialog i need to re-calculate/update the remaining disk space and show the "new" value to text label control.

How to do this? Any suggestion or sample codes would be appreciated. Thanks.

InstallAware editions Developer and higher allow use of the MSIcode [tab].

You will be interested in the MSIcode commands:

• Check Disk Space - to get free space on drive.
• Get Component Space - to determine how much space the install requires.

I know the tab and i know these comandas, but i don't know how to use them in action. What i need to achieve is:

When the user changes via the folder browse control a pre-selected folder, i need to display the remaining disk space for the changed/new selected folder. How to? I mean what i have to do in the MSI code?

I apologize, I misunderstood the nature of the situation a little. Try this approach:

In the form editor, add a Static Text box to the dialog you want to display the drive space.

Double-click on the Static Text box you added and under Object Behavior tab, for Receives information, choose Available Disk Space. The static text box should display the space available to the disk.

That doesn't work out! Your approach always display the Remaining Disk Space of the selected path for the application directory, but that's not what i want. OK - let's try again:

My setup needs to have two destionation folder selection dialogs, one for the application itself (i use the destination dialog) and another one for the application data. Therefor I have added a diolog form (in principal a copy from the "destination" dialog) which contains (you will know):

(a) one Button to select a path (including the disc letter),
(b) one Edit-Field to display the selected path,
(c) ... and so on.

Now, what I need to achieve is to display the Remaining Disk Space of the selected path within the second diolog form, the one for the application data. How to do this?

Hmmm. I doubt IA will be able to satisfy what you're after. However, could you clarify a bit? I'm curious if you're testing a situation where the application is to be installed on one drive/partition and the data would be installed to another drive/partition...
