.Net 4 assemblies not uninstalling from GAC

I am having issues with .Net 4 assemblies not uninstalling when the assembly is installed to the GAC.

I am using IA9r2. With .Net 4, assemblies installed to the GAC are in C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\assembly\GAC_MSIL and not C:\Windows\Assembly as previously.

Attached is an example SLN and IA project that uses an assembly that gets installed in the GAC. If you build the project, then the installer, then run the installer. After installing, uninstall and the assembly 'HelloWorldLibrary' is left in the C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\assembly\GAC_MSIL directory.

Have I missed some thing or do I have to manually clean assemblies from the GAC?

Ron

After running Apply Uninstall, you can call "Remove [unpinned] Assemblies"

We do the 'Remove Unpinned Assemblies' in our real installer. It was left out of the original code I attached, but I have added it to the example and it still leaves assemblies in the GAC.

I have been testing with Win7 and Server2008.

I looked into this and it appears that you're testing on the two OS that this is failing on; others, through Vista appear to work properly. Thanks for bringing this to our attention; we're looking into the cause.

do you have an ETA for when this might be fixed?

I can't say for sure, but this should be fixed in the next release of InstallAware.
