I am unable to complete the uninstall process from the setup.exe from CD, however when uninstalling from the Add/Remove programs it runs fine.

If I copy over the setup files to a disk location that is NOT read only it also seems to work. Since we are using cd/dvd media for redistributing our application, having the setup.exe on a read only media is mandatory.

The Error message I receive that stops the installation is : Error: "Unable to write to the specified folder: D:\data\."

Build Settings
using Uncompressed Directory Layout
enabled - Always Cache Setup Sources

I have attempted to uninstall the msi file with logging but really haven't been able to come up with anything conclusive, though I will be glad to attach the msi uninstall log if you feel it would be helpful.

I am not using any web media blocks, only "offline content",

I have spent a considerable amount of time reading through the help file and forums searching for a solution for this problem, please advise,

Are specifying the install to write to $DATADIR$ at some point?

No, I am not specifying the $DATADIR$ at any point. I got this working though, seems kind of strange, I disabled debug mode on the installer, and after I built the project again, it would allow me to uninstall from the setup.exe on read only media.
