I am trying to included Chinese translation to the installer for our software. The strings generated are gibberish.
InstallAware Version 9 R2. Build machine is Windows XP 32 bit.Base language is English
Procedure Followed :
1) Asked installer project to export strings.
2) Asked Installaware to convert string.(Chinese PRC)
3)Imported the strings.
Tries made.
1) Installed the files required for East Asian Languages by going to Control Panel -> Regional and Language Options.
2) Tried converting the file from ANSI to Unicode and then trying to import.Did this in Notepad++.Even in Notepad++ when it was first opened is was gibberish. After converting to Unicode , I could see chinese characters but still installer shows it in some different characters.
3) The unicode encoded file shows chinese character in Notepad but when opened through Translator the string are not properly shown.I tried pasting from Notepad. It shows the pasted text in chinese.
I am doing anything wrong.
