Run Program from exe packed in install

How do I run a program that is part of the install package, before the install is applied? My install is a single .exe file.
This question may already be answered, but this forum software doesn't seem too friendly for searching. If I try to search on Run Program, I'm just told those words are too common - not very helpful. At least let me see the results so I can then refine the search!
Thanks.

We will be upgrading the search soon. In the mean time, it's best to search from google using:
site:installaware.com/forum <search terms>
As you let on, Run Program is the command that runs the program. You can place it in your MSIcode before Apply Install.
Also, you can manage program running with the visual designer in the Run Programs section under the Advanced Options folder.

Thanks for the reply...but where do I run the program from? It shouldn't be installed yet, so what's the path?

Since it sounds like I'm doing some similar stuff to what you want, here's a couple of pointers:
First, is the program you want to run part of the installation itself or a support program that is not needed later?
If its part of the installation, if you try to run it after the Apply Install, it'll be located in its proper directory. If you need to run it before install, you can add it to the Support Files section and it'll be found in $SUPPORTDIR$ until the installer finishes, at which point it'll be deleted.
Hopefully this will give you some ideas...
