Cancelling the installation.

Hello,

I'm trying to run a custom registration utility during my product installation. What I need to do is to Cancel the installation in case if registration utility fails, preferable prior files are unpacked into target directory. I tried using Run Program command and store the result into variable, if result is error then I do Terminate Installation command. My problem is that Run Program does not work prior Apply Install, so I have to run my registration utility after files are already deployed. When installation gets terminated all files remain on the user PC making the registration requirement pointless.

Can you suggest how can I run a registration utility prior files are deployed on the user PC or how can I reliably rollback the installation in case if registration fails?

WBR,
Arman

I find that unusual. The Run Program... plug-ins run immediately. Did you try putting your utility in a File Bag? That way it's usable without it having to be installed first.

You may also want to wrap your actual program installer inside another setup that does the registration verification which calls the actual installer if registration is valid.
