Queries about product

Hi,

We are looking for an embedded .NET installer for one of our product which needs .NET Framework installation.
The installer we are looking for needs to provide the functionality below:
• If .NET 4 (Client Profile or Full) is installed then install the .NET 4 version of the application
• If .NET 3.5 SP1 is installed then install the .NET 3.5 SP1 version of the application
• If .NET 3.5 SP1 or .NET 4 are not installed then (1) install .NET 4.0 Client Profile and then (2) install the application
Note: The .NET 4 installer must (1) use the web based installer (which adds less than 1 MB to the installation package size) and (2) must provide accurate progress information including time remaining during installation.

Do your products supply these functions?

Thanks,
Zhou Nan

Including .NET Framework as a pre-requisite to your software package is easy enough. You can just select the desired packages from the Runtimes View.

Your product's pre-requisites are automatically designated web media blocks, which will be compressed and available for distribution when you build a web based installer.

As far as progress information goes, here are screens of what the progress looks like when downloading, extracting and installing the pre-requisite as a web-media block:

Hi,

Thanks for the details below. We still have the following questions for which your feedback is appreciated:

1) The screenshots below show progress information during the .NET 4 framework download and package extraction. Could you confirm if accurate progress information is shown during the actual installation of the .NET 4 framework and if this includes time remaining.

2) Also can you confirm if InstallAware can support the following senario.

I hope the above makes sense, otherwise please mail me at [email protected] or you can reach me on +44 (0)208 492 3570 before 12pm PST.

We will be able to make a decision as to whether to purchase the product once we have these details.

Thanks,

Zhou

1) The screenshots provided also display the installation (on the right). Time to complete is not included. Generally InstallAware relays the installation information that is provided my the Microsoft Installer. In some cases, like with installing .Net 4 as shown, the information provided is minimal and we implement a MARQUEE style of displaying progress. It does not indicate the actual percentage of progress (remaining or progressed) and time to completion is not included either.

2) Yes, this scenario can be implemented.
