Installing multiple copies of the same product

The basic approach of InstallAware installers appears to disallow multiple copies of the same product being installed at different locations on the same platform. Running an the installer a second time causes the maintenance dialog to be presented. When I removed the maintenance dialog section from the installer script, I then found that the second installation (with MAINTENANCE=TRUE) went through the motions of installing, but only installed empty folders. The predicted size of the installation was zero.

Is it possible to use InstallAware to make an installer which can be run multiple times, each time installing into a different (user-defined) location, or into the same location, overwriting the existing files?

Thank you.

Nick, does this help?

Create a new project and select the Samples tab. In there is a Multiple Instances sample. That might do what you're hoping to achieve. If it puts you on the right track you will probably need to tweak it to do exactly what you're after.

Dear NickDay,

This is indeed possible with the use of the command Transform Instance. This command allows new installations of an already installed product on the same system. Please refer to the "Transform Instance" help file in the InstallAware IDE for usage - it is a great tool!

Thanks
