How to

I have an application that I built that interacts with another application the user has installed. What I did with my old installer (we upgraded to InstallAware) was display a dialog box, using a Radio button, asking what version of the application they had installed. Depending on which radio button they selected I would then copy the correct interop.XXX.dll file to the InstallDir. In my install package I included the 2 interop.xxx.dll renamed to Interop.xxx.dll_14 and Interop.xxx.dll_13 then when I copy the selected versions Interop the installer renamed it to the correct name.
How can I do this in InstallAware. My old Installer was a program called Msi Factory
Thanks in advance Again
Paul

Dear Paul,
What you would do is create a custom dialog (an excellent tutorial on how to do so can be found here:
http://www.installaware.com/basic_dialog.pdf).
You will then place those DLL's, for example, in your SUPPORTDIR by adding them to the Support Files on the left hand side of the MSIcode tab.
Then, according to the users selection in your dialog, you would copy the files you wanted (using the Copy / Move Local Files command) to wherever you wish.
Does that make sense? Am I understanding you correctly?

Thank you It does make sense. but I have a question on the copy, move function. The doc say "This command copies or moves files that are already present on the target system" These files will not be on the usere system but need to be added from my installer. My thoughts are : To add these files as support files to the installer, then use the copy / move local files command to rename / copy from $SUPPORTDIR$\thefile.dll_14 to the targetdir as $TARGETDIR$\thefile.dll..
Does that sound right to you/ should that work.
Thanks
Paul

Dear Paul,
Correct. The SUPPORTDIR is there exactly for these needs!

Hello,
am using a flash control in my progress dialog ( since i couldn't use the Animate control with my custom avi ) and i have two different progress dialogs each one has a different loading swf movie, what i did is:
1. Installed the two different swf movies to my $COMMONFILES$ directory and before showing the progress dialog i Use the COPY / Move to copy the proper file to $SUPPORTDIR$ under the name 'movie.swf', but seems that it doesn't do the trick because COPY /MOVE deals only with the local files, and as i far no the $SUPPORTDIR$ is not a local destination.. please advise

$SUPPORTDIR$ is definitely a directory on the target machine.
You guys probably didn't use the Native Engine or call Apply Changes - remember that IA commands are cached and not actually executed until the Apply Changes command unless the Native Engine is used.
