Is there a way to NOT have a program show up in the add / remove programs after it is installed?

Thanks
Paul

Dear Paul,

Theoretically, yes. You could manually remove the registry entries of your program - that would be an ugly patch though..
Is that something you might be interested it?

Well here is what we are doing - Maybe you can tell me the best way to go about it. We have a program that talks to a thired part application. When the user installs our program it askes them what version of the thired party program they have installed. If they upgrade the thired party program they will need to upgrade the interop files we installed when they installed our application...

Short of just e-mailing them the new interop files and telling them to just overwrite it - I think it would cool to do it whrough the setup file. The installer will just install the new interop files to the original instll folder overwriting the old ones. My concern is that the user can go to the Add remove proograms and remove just the interop files leaving our program inoperable - Or if the uninstall our program I think that might screw up the un-install for the interops only since they would be removed with the first uninstall.

Thanks
Paul

Dear Paul,

I understand. Have you guys considered using web updates to your software?

Thanks

The problem is that our program was originally installed with a different installation package. We just upgraded to InstallAware. Of version updates are handled with an update control that we build right in to the application.

This is not a true version update is the problem.

Any suggestions

Dear Paul,

Since this is a specific need, have you considered using a scripting language or even batch scripts to update your files?
