Deploying a website

I am wondering if InstallAware 10 has the capability of deploying files to our website? Right now we use a manual process to copy files from one environment to the next, which leaves us open to human error. Can we use InstallAware to automate the process more? If so where do I start? I am a pro at windows apps and InstallAware however clueless when it comes to this web stuff. Thanks in advance!

Dear brian,

Coud you describe your server architecture? Theoretically, yes. Lets say you have a Windows 2003 Server that's running your web server. With InstallAware, you can not only deploy files and enable web updates for your pages, but also control your actual server with the InstallAware MSIcode (which allows you to restart your server every time an update has occurred.

We start with a development environment, then copy files to a more stable testing environment, lastly we move to the production environment. Again with each step the files are all copied over manually to each environment. So can you be more specific on what tools I can use within InstallAware 10 to accomplish our goal of not having to manually copy from one environment to the next and even deployment?

Dear bryan,

I am not sure what you mean in your description, but let me explain how I see it. Basically, InstallAware not only allows you to move around files like any other installer, but you can also control your IIS server (if you are using one). With InstallAware, you can create websites, control them, query them, and more.
