Set permissions on Registry Win7 x64

Hi,

i'm new at the devolpment with InstallAware, i'm using IA9 Studio.
Now i'm in trouble with a small problem, and i hope one of you can help me.

I'm tring to set the permissions of a registry-entry which is created in the Setup. The entry should be read- and writeable by everybody.
I've tried out the Function: << Set Read Write Permissions on Registry Key "HKLM\SOFTWARE\My\Key" for Everyone Current User Authenticated Users >>
But Without success.

The Setup runs in 64 Bit mode by following command: << Set x64 - Native 64 bit Windows, AMD64 and EM64T Architectures - installation mode >>

If i create the Key under the Wow64Node, the permissions are setted in this Key, but i want to set the permissions of a key which is not in Wow64Node.
Is there any trick or do i something wrong.

Thanks,
many greetings from snowy Germany.

Dear BuggyMonkey,

Did you try setting the 32 Bit mode before working with the 32bit registry?

Hi,
thanks for your answere.

No i dont change it, because my app is a 64 Bit app. And i only Set the Bit mode in this Line, not anywhere else.

this is the way i have solved it now:
Get Temporary File Name into Variable regperm
Write into Text File $regperm$ from Value HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\My\Key [1 5 7 11 17] (at end of file)
Run Program regini $regperm$ (WAIT, get result into variable return)

I think that will work for my needs. Or what do you think about it?

Regards,
Nils

Dear Nils,

That will work, but it is not ideal - it is not recommended to run 3rd party executables since you do not want your installer to rely on their presence, accuracy and so forth.

Instead, please try and set the installer to the 32 Bit mode before setting your registry permissions. After setting the permissions, set your installer back to 64 Bit. Please let me know if that worked.

Hi,

i have tried that, but without success, only the permissions on the keys under "Wow6432Node" were set.

I think it's a bug, right?
please tell my when it is fixed.

Thanks, Regards
Nils

Dear Nils,

I tried recreating this problem here but was unsuccessful. Could you kindly create a minimal reproducing project that demonstrates the issue you are depicting so I could test it here?

Thanks!
