Message Balloon

Hi,
Well here we go again.... I have tried to use the MessageBalloon prior to calling a external program that can take a period of time to execute, in order to ask the user to be patient I thought .. wow lets use a simple message balloon and let that gracefully timeout after a while, lets say the default of 10 seconds. Hay presto the message baloon appeared, and stayed there, and stayed there, and stayed there... etc... No timeout..

Whats wrong with this? You can not possibly say that I am doing it wrong! as its just a drag and drop action and set some fields up.

Dear Steve,
This works perfectly for me. The balloon shows up for 5 seconds and then disappears.
Could you please send your project / script to support at installaware.com?
It is likely that the problem lies in the rest of your script rather than in the actual MessageBalloon command.

Steve,
On my machine it works as either information type or exclamation type.
What is your current status with this issue?

Hi
I will retest with information and see if the issue is still extant.
Thanks

Hi,
Ok just re-try'd it. by removing the one line, and only the one line MessageBalloon, then re-inserting the one line as Informational, and the ballon sits there and does not time out in 10 seconds, BUT does time out after over a min+? yet the timeout says ten seconds in the dialog being displayed, even more wierd?

Dear Steve,
Could you send me the project you are testing with to support at installaware.com? I am not experiencing the same thing here.

Hi,
At this moment in time I can not send this to you without permission, same reason with the reboot which is far more important to resolve, as the exclamation version is working and will do for now. What I can tell you is that I am buiding this installer from the command line, if that causes any difference in behaviour, the machine I am tetsing on is a 64 bit wondows 7 machine running Windows 7 Professional, something like this... really need help on the resume not working as being more important...
CALL miabuild.exe "%INSTALLER_PROJECT%" /o="%BUILD_DIR%\%DIST_OUT_DIR%\%DIST_OUT_SWITCH%" /b=1 ENABLE_SWITCH=TRUE
Regards
Steve

Steve,
This is really bizarre - I created a sample project for your reboot - resume issue and posted it in the relevant thread around 4 hours ago.
Looking at the thread now, I did not see my post - I am either going crazy or I posted it somewhere else.
Anyway, I posted it again on that thread now. Let me know your thoughts.

Chaps, I've also had a previous anomaly with the message balloon in this thread
http://www.installaware.com/forum/viewt ... f=2&t=6104.
I'm not sure if contributes anything that's very helpful to Steve's original discussion here.
