Multiple Target Directories??

Is it possible to install into multiple target directories?

I need to modify my setup to install a website (C:\inetpub\wwwroot\xxx) and/or client application (C:\Program Files\xxx). Is this possible? If so, how?

If not, is the best workaround to create one setup that calls other setups (one for web app, one for client app, etc.)? Is there some other way to go about it?

Thanks!

Dear 5aclockshadow,

Installing files is customizable just like any other command, so there is no problem to write a few Install File commands that install files to different folders.
Modifying a website is definitely possible as webpages / web content are just like any other files. Moreover, you can even control your IIS server with InstallAware (please see the IIS Web Sites and Folders sample project).
The best method to call 3rd party setup from your own is with the use of the (Un)Install MSI Setup plugin. This plugin allows you to install msi's just like msiexec but it is integrated right into InstallAware.

Ok, so far so good ... I created TARGETDIR2 for the client apps to be intstalled in C:\Program Files\xxx.

Now on the destination dialog is it possible to have two different paths w/ two browse buttons? Right now the correct defaults are loaded but once the first path is changed it changes it for both.

Example:
TARGETDIR is C:\inetpub\wwwroot\xxx by default.
TARGETDIR2 is C:\Program Files\xxx by default.

If user changes TARGETDIR from C:\inetpub\wwwroot\xxx to D:\inetpub\wwwroot\xxx then TARGETDIR2 is also changed to D:\inetpub\wwwroot\xxx.

We want the ability to change TARGETDIR to D:\inetpub\wwwroot\xxx and TARGETDIR2 to D:\Program Files\xxx.

Is this possible?

The first browse button's object behavior is set to Perform Action: Select Target Folder.

I tried setting the second browse button's object behavior to Perform Action: Select Target Folder & Select Custom Folder ... neither seemed to work.

Dear 5aclockshadow,

How did you create the TARGETDIR2 variable?

I would suggest creating another dialog, similar to the Select Destination dialog, that will change the TARGETDIR2.

Thanks for the help.

I created the variable like so:
Set Variable TARGETDIR2 to $PROGRAMFILES$xxx

Is there something special I need to do?

I tried copying the destination dialog and making destination2 but when I change one it still changed the other one.

On destination2, what should the path text box & browse button's object behavior values look like for:
-Receives Information
-Writes Values to Variable
-Performs Action

??

I'm running v6.6 (Build bremen_rtm.050507)

Thanks again for any help ... I think I'm close.

Dear 5aclockshadow,

The destination2 textbox should only have a "Writes Values to Variable" behavior set to TARGETDIR2. Remember to declare this variable before showing the dialog calling Set Variable TARGETDIR2 to empy.
